This Just About Sums Things Up

My dear friend, Katy, got engaged on Christmas. She is the first of my friends to do this. I’m sure there will be a few more following her footsteps in the next couple of years, but it’s interesting for several reasons - of which I’m not going to list - that she is the first.
However, the fact that she is planning on doing this as opposed to this is a good indication of where I’m coming from.
That is all. Continue on.
I have a hard time abiding by them. In high school I always got in trouble for having too short a skirt, too low a shirt, not enough straps, etc. Even now I struggle with what is appropriate to wear in an office. Don’t want to be THAT GIRL that dresses inappropriately.
Interesting enough, my former professor, Jillian McDonald, is being featured in a show called Dress Code that opens tonight at the LMAK Projects gallery in Chelsea. The blurb reads as such:
“Since the relationship between the body and the public sphere is mediated by clothes, the art projects in this exhibition understand clothing as a vehicle for generating meaning, situating the body as part of a larger social construction. The artists use humor and irony to communicate these complex social issues to audiences often unaware that they are part of an artistic project. The projects use various strategies such as performance, public intervention, displacement, ready-made objects, as well as subversion and appropriation of mainstream media, commercial exchange, commodity objects and advertising.”
Sweet.
Just like their products! The new Apple store on 14th Street in Chelsea is all windows and glass allowing for lots of light to come in and make all of the pretty things sparkle.

“Let’s go to the Apple store today.”
“Ok. I really need a new computer, but I don’t want a Mac. I don’t like what’s on them. I like… whatever is on PC’s.”
“You mean Windows?”
“Yeah, that.”
3 hours later, a Macbook was purchased.

is Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam. I wonder why he decided to use ‘Akon’ instead of ‘Nacka’ or ‘Bouga.’
Prince’s real name is actually Prince Rogers Nelson, which leads me to question why my parents did not name me Princess. Didn’t they realize I could have been a legendary pop star with the ability to entice straight and gay men alike to strut around in purple rain claiming that you don’t have to be beautiful to turn me on?
The entire list is located here.
Quit possibly fake, but funny as hell.
Best part is Katherine Heigl’s “Oh shit!” at the end.

I’m so glad this chick added me on MySpace because I am now obsessed with her. Great voice, uplifting tunes, hot girl. Can’t really go wrong with those qualities. Who is she, you ask? Kate Voegele (sounds like mogul).
The only decent video I could find of her performing is this one on MySpaceTV, but it’s a great song (and apparently her favorite!). Head on over to her MySpace page to hear her original songs. They’re all wonderful.
