Decor Whore: A New Addition to Brookland

April 21st, 2009

For awhile I’ve been contemplating launching a decor/design blog.  I even went as far as getting a domain name, host, and starting on the site design.  However, the upkeep of multiple blogs is clearly more than I can handle as I’ve been sitting on it for almost a year.

My second dilemma in this scenario is that although I take care in choosing everything that I bring into the apartment, my humble abode is never quite photo worthy.  It’s usually a mess and there just isn’t enough light (damn you, you North facing windows!).

Alas, my solution is this: a section devoted to the things I buy and/or crave.  A deviation from Brookland as a photoblog?  Yes.  A worthwhile component to this chica’s Brooklyn lifestyle?  I think so.

Without further ado, I introduce my first piece of property:

I bought this print awhile ago to hang in my living room and has since become quite the conversational piece — usually when someone doesn’t where a particular neighborhood is located or asks where my apartment is in the scheme of things (right about where Williamsburg, BedStuy, and Bushwick meet).

I chose the blue for a very random reason: at the time I was riding by the Navy Yard every day on my way to work in Dumbo.  It just seemed like the right choice at the time.  However, I’ve since started picking up other dark blue objects with sweet typography.  It’s all party of my quest to be a geek while maintaining some semblance of chic.

Also, Ork’s got you covered if your pride lies outside of the BK — Manhattan, LA, Chicago, Portland, San Fran, Seattle, Boston and the list keeps going.
