A couple of weeks ago a friend of a friend invited me to photograph the lovely and talented (pitch-perfect voice that flows like water) Gretchen Parlato at 55 bar in the west village.  Now the last time I visited this bar I was in college and therefore drunk.  At the time I had no idea that in this place you were to *listen and appreciate the music* rather than talk loudly and spill your drink.  Needless to say, this time I arrived a little more prepared and did not attract angry stares from the music savvy crowd.

The lighting of the bar proved a challenge so up went the ISO and out came the grain resulting in some edgier, raw photos.  I can’t say that I’m displeased with the result.
