Family Time Equates To Beer and Bike Rides

June 15th, 2009

I took these fotos back in early May when my father and brother came for a visit to Brooklyn.  There are 3 things my father must do when in New York City (written out and capitalized here for the sake of the tourist in us all): 1. he must go to “Seaport” (there is no preceeding “the” in this version) 2. he cannot miss a trip to Times Square which usually includes a stop at ESPN Zone and 3. he must go to mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral (though I believe this past time it was another church downtown — maybe thanks to my persistence that midtown is HELL).

My brother, on the other hand, is happy to wile the day away getting drunk.  My dad’s not too opposed to this either.  Nor am I.  Since I had proposed a day in Brooklyn in hopes of getting out of the heinousness that is 42nd street, the obvious answer was the Brooklyn Brewery.  I do, however, have a confession to make: BB is totally my fallback for when I have visitors and don’t know what to do with them.  Now, if you who happens to be reading this has in fact made a trip there with me, please do not take offense for you are of the fine caliber of people with whom I associate getting hammered in the middle of the day at a quaint little gem of a beer house.  You, my friends, are great people.

At any rate, to make what I would tell as a long story short, my father and brother managed to find people to talk about sports with them all afternoon and I got drunk and took pictures.  Afterward we walked over to the East River for a cigar, my dad went back to Manhattan, and my brother and I grabbed a couple of bikes to go check out Williamsburg and take pictures of street art.
