Day 3 of All Points West: Lykke Li, Coldplay, & MGMT

August 5th, 2009

First of all, I just have to say that I’m glad I was warned about the mud.  After 3 days of people tramping around the soggy park the place was destroyed, but my handy rain boots kept me (mostly) clean and dry.  I was not one of the brave souls to really get dirty — I assumed there was some nasty shit swimming around in there.  Others certainly enjoyed it though and props to them for being all Woodstocky.

Anyway, about the music.  Lykke Li was the shit.  I loved her before and I love her more now.  Coldplay was ridiculous — I never found Chris Martin attractive before he ran around the stage in that hot, MJ inspired outfit.  Now I get it.  He’s a sexy musician.  MGMT?  Errrr… they left a lot to the imagination.  I was totally pumped to see them, but for the first few songs (the only time photogs are allowed in the press pit), they gave us nothing to work with.  There was no energy.  They picked up a bit at the end, but I was disappointed.  Especially because I left Coldplay (who I previously didn’t give a fuck about) in order to get to MGMT (who I did give a fuck about) on time.

How’s that for a music review?  Very in depth, I know.
